Lee Je-hoon is set to reprise his fan-favorite role as vigilante cab driver Kim Do-gi in Taxi Driver 3, the latest installment in the hit Korean action series from SBS and Viu. The third season will launch in the fourth quarter of 2025 as a Viu original across global markets — excluding South Korea and mainland China — following the breakout success of the show’s first two seasons.

The new season will once again reunite Je-hoon with co-stars Kim Eui-sung, Pyo Ye-jin, Jang Hyuk-jin and Bae Yoo-ram, continuing the high-stakes exploits of the Rainbow Taxi team. Series collaborators Oh Sang-ho and Kang Bo-seung return as writer and director, respectively.

Edan Lui of Hong Kong boy band Mirror will also make his Korean drama debut in the new season, joining the cast in a role that pairs him in an uneasy alliance with Kim Do-gi.

Taxi Driver is based on the Korean webtoon Red Cage and premiered on SBS in 2021. Its blend of action, social justice, and noir stylings quickly turned it into one of the network’s biggest hits of the year. The second season, which streamed globally via Viu, delivered record-breaking numbers for the platform, boosting its status a go-to for Korean entertainment in the region, particularly among video consumers in Southeast Asia.

“We are delighted to introduce Taxi Driver 3 through our trusted and long-standing partnership with Viu, a platform with strong global influence and reach,” said Park Jeong-hoon, CEO of Studio S, the in-house production company of SBS Media Group. “Our production team is working diligently to create a high-quality drama that lives up to the legacy of Seasons 1 and 2, striving to meet and exceed the expectations of viewers.”

The upcoming season is one of several new titles anchoring Viu’s 2025 content push. Other highlights include My Youth, a romantic drama fronted by Korean star Song Joong-ki, and My Girlfriend Is a Man!, a gender-flipping rom-com led by Astro’s Yoon San-ha and Oh My Girl’s Arin.

“Our fresh slate of titles reinforces our commitment to compelling storytelling that resonates locally and travels globally,” said Janice Lee, CEO of Viu and md of PCCW Media Group. “In 2025, we are bringing new international collaborations such as Taxi Driver 3, My Youth and The Season, delivering authentic, locally rooted productions with cross-border appeal.”

The announcement of Taxi Driver 3 was made Wednesday during the APOS summit, Asia’s leading industry gathering for the media, telecom and entertainment sectors, held this week in Bali.
