India’s Jio Studios and B62 Studios have unleashed a high-octane first look at “Dhurandhar,” timing the reveal to coincide with Bollywood star Ranveer Singh‘s birthday celebration.
The action-thriller, helmed by “Uri: The Surgical Strike” director Aditya Dhar, is set for a Dec. 5 global theatrical release.
The 2-minute, 40-second footage delivers a relentless visual onslaught, combining mystery elements with gritty action sequences. Singh leads an ensemble cast that includes Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal.
The first look features an original composition by Shashwat, with vocals provided by Jasmine Sandlas.The track includes a collaboration with Hanumankind, the rising new-age artist whose genre-blending approach brings an edge to the project’s sonic landscape.
Dhar serves triple duty as writer, director, and producer on “Dhurandhar.” The film is produced under the B62 Studios banner, with Jyoti Deshpande and Lokesh Dhar also producing. Jio Studios is presenting the project.
According to the production, “Dhurandhar” promises to uncover “the untold saga of the unknown men,” suggesting a narrative focused on unsung heroes or covert operations – territory that proved fertile ground for Dhar’s previous military-themed success.
Singh made his acting debut with Yash Raj Films’ romantic comedy “Band Baaja Baaraat” (2010), winning the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. After graduating from Indiana University Bloomington with a telecommunications degree, Singh worked in advertising for several years before pursuing his acting ambitions.
The actor established himself as a major star through his collaborations with director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, beginning with “Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela” (2013) and continuing with acclaimed period dramas “Bajirao Mastani” (2015) and “Padmaavat” (2018). His performance as a rapper in Zoya Akhtar’s Berlinale selection “Gully Boy” (2019) earned him another Filmfare Award for Best Actor, while his recent commercial success came with Karan Johar’s “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani” (2023).
He is married to frequent co-star Deepika Padukone, with whom he has a daughter, and is known off-screen for his flamboyant fashion sense.
